Kitchen Tips: Measuring Butter
One measure that can floor inexperienced (and sometimes even experienced) cooks is if the recipe calls for 1/2 a cup of butter. Well, there's no need to scrabble for an alternative measurement, or even to guess. Take a measuring cup and half fill it with water. Add pieces of butter until they reach the top of the cup, pour off the water and what remains is the correct measure. Don't forget to shout 'Eureka' - after all, it was Archimedes idea in the first place! |
